Frequently Asked Questions About Online Testing

At Remote Psychology Diagnostics, we understand that starting the testing process—especially as an adult—can bring up a lot of questions. Whether this is your first time seeking a psychological assessment or it’s been years since your last one, we're here to help clarify what to expect. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive about online psychological testing. If you still have questions, feel free to contact us. A member of our care team will be happy to assist you.

To participate in our virtual testing sessions, you’ll need a reliable high-speed internet connection and a device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) with both audio and video capabilities. We recommend using a laptop or desktop for the most seamless experience. It’s important to schedule your sessions when you can be in a private, quiet environment and to allow several uninterrupted hours for the assessment process.

At this time, Remote Psychology Diagnostics accepts credit and debit cards for payment. We do not accept checks, cash, or peer-to-peer payment platforms such as Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal. If your insurance plan includes a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA), you may be able to use those funds—please confirm eligibility with your provider prior to your appointment.

We understand that many clients hope to use insurance to offset healthcare costs. After careful review, we’ve chosen to operate as a private-pay practice for several important reasons:

  • Interstate restrictions: Because we serve clients across multiple states, the complexities of dealing with insurance providers from different regions make universal coverage difficult to manage effectively.
  • Limited psychological testing coverage: Many insurance plans offer little or no reimbursement for adult psychological testing, particularly for conditions such as autism or ADHD.
  • Restrictions on testing methods: Insurance plans often exclude specific assessments we believe are necessary for a comprehensive evaluation.
  • Risk of unexpected costs: Clients can be left with unanticipated bills if insurance denies coverage after services are rendered. We prefer to provide clear, upfront pricing with no hidden fees, so you always know what to expect.

While most insurance companies will reimburse some or all of the cost of testing, coverage varies by provider. We will provide you with a detailed invoice (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement. Please note that we cannot guarantee coverage, as each plan is different.

Remote Psychology Diagnostics focuses exclusively on psychological assessments. We do not offer therapy, prescription services, or medication management. However, if your results suggest that therapy or medication could benefit you, we’re happy to provide referrals and coordinate with your existing healthcare providers when needed.

Our assessments are designed for ages 2 and older. We specialize in evaluating conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults. We are also proud to offer inclusive, gender-affirming services for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Due to licensure regulations, we currently provide services only to residents of PsyPact-participating states. You must be physically located in a PsyPact state at the time of your telehealth appointment in order to receive services.

You must be located in one of the following PsyPact states during your appointment to be eligible for testing:

Texas and Alabama (More Coming Soon)

We believe in transparent pricing. For most clients, the cost of a full diagnostic assessment—covering ADHD and/or ASD testing—is $2,000. This includes your intake interview, standardized testing, scoring and interpretation, and a personalized feedback session with your evaluator. If multiple areas are assessed during the same evaluation, discounted rates may apply.

If your testing needs differ from the standard scope, we will inform you in advance of any cost changes. Under the No Surprises Act, if your final charges are more than $400 over your good faith estimate and you did not agree to those changes, you have the right to dispute the charges.

Accommodation letters for school, work, or other needs are $500.

ESA (Emotional Support Animal) letters for housing and travel are $150.

At this time, we accept credit and debit cards. You may also be able to use an FSA or HSA account to cover the cost, depending on your insurance plan. We recommend confirming with your insurer before your appointment.
